Bill Howe Restoration and Flood Services

There are different types of water damage that a building can be subjected to, and the losses that come with that are not small. Rotten wood, mold, rusting steel, bacteria, are just a few of the results brought on by water damage. Water damage can devalue your property and make it uninhabitable until it’s fully restored. We can send our water damage restoration team to take care of your property.

Here are the problems you might face when dealing with water damage in your home or business.

Flood Restoration

Floods are unpredictable and can wreak havoc on a home. It usually takes several days for the house to dry entirely from a flood, and that process needs to be professionally managed with care. You’d need to remove all furniture and discard most of your carpets as the flood water might have contaminants. Our water damage restoration service helps alleviate the stress of having to do this on your own.

Mold only takes 24 or so hours to grow. A team of professionals will make sure it doesn’t happen, while the house is still drying. Bill Howe Restoration and Flood is one of the largest emergency flood damage restoration companies, offering 24/7 emergency service.

Standing Water

Standing water is most commonly caused by a broken or leaking pipe and requires flood remediation. Bill Howe’s emergency flood restoration services use modern water mitigation techniques to perform water extraction from wet carpet and walls removing bacteria and potential hazards. Bill Howe Restoration and Flood also offers water cleanup services and basement cleanup for San Diego homes. When faced with standing water, seek water damage service as quickly as possible to avoid mold, mildew and water damage to the home.

Slab Leak

Slab leaks are water leaks in the plumbing system underneath concrete slab foundations and occur with small pinhole leaks or larger bursts. They can go unnoticed for a while, but the damage will continue whether or not you notice it. If your house is built on a slab and there’s an active leak, the integrity of the entire house foundation is at risk. Bill Howe uses electronic slab leak detection to precisely locate the leak and repair it.

Structural Drying

Water damage restoration services go beyond stopping leaks or removing standing water. Structural drying means removing water saturation from your home’s hard surfaces. Our goal at Bill Howe Restoration and Flood is to dry your structure as fast as possible with the least amount of demolition to prevent any further damage. When drying your home’s hard surfaces, we will perform moisture readings to determine the extent of the affected area and how much water saturation remains. Sometimes in order to perform water extraction it is necessary to remove at least part of the drywall from the frame and remove any affected insulation. Other times, small holes can be utilized to dry wall-cavities.

Mold Remediation

Mold remediation is important to maintaining indoor air quality. Removing moisture from your home reduces the chance of mold growth. Bill Howe Restoration and Flood is an industry leader in mold control following specific industry standards to protect your home.

The first step in remediation is to perform a visual inspection. If any mold growth is detected, removing it is a hazardous process and needs to be handled by trained professionals in protective gear. We use top-of-the-line equipment such as negative air machines and air scrubbers to remove potentially dangerous mold spores from the environment. Once we are confident that the problem is resolved, we will schedule a third-party air quality inspector to confirm that the mold is gone from the home.

The issue of potential or existing mold growth is not the part of water damage repair you’d want to neglect.

Water Damage Categories

Water damage comes in three distinct categories. Our San Diego water restoration team is able to categorize your water loss based on the length of time the water has affected the structure, the temperature of the affected materials, and assessing pre-existing conditions. With this knowledge, your water damage can easily be remediated, and your home or commercial building restored to its original state using extraction and evaporation.

Category 1

Water damage refers to “clean” or “fresh” water and can be from sources like water shutoff valves, toilet tank leaks, and under sink water filtration systems. Category 1 does not pose an immediate health risk to occupants, but can quickly escalate to category 2 or 3.

Category 2

Referred to as “grey” water, category 2 loss contains chemical or biological contaminants that could be dangerous to occupants. Sources of greywater include water heaters, toilet overflows (where no waste is present), and laundry overflows.

Category 3

Known as “black” water, category 3 is severe water loss and is harmful to individuals. Blackwater can originate from the main sewer overflows, storm waters, and/or standing waters and ground surface waters. Category 3 contaminated water contains unsanitary bacteria, fungi, pathogens, and can cause serious illness requiring specialized containment and mitigation.

Odor Control

There are many things inside a home or building that can produce awful odors. An enclosed area has low levels of oxygen that can lead to poor air renewal and the accumulation of odor-producing compounds. Odor can come from tobacco smoke, pets and other sources in your home or business. An effective bacterial agent was created to combat indoor odors. It works by destroying compounds that produce odor and is highly effective in preventing bacterial growth and mildew. Portable ozone generators can deodorize an entire building.

Water Damage Restoration After a Fire

Water damage repair methods following fire or smoke vary based on the specifics of the blaze. Once broken doors and windows are removed and replaced, our technicians will repair the water damage caused by fire hoses, broken water pipes, and rain.

In the case of smoke damage, we apply ozone to control the smoke odor until the smoke smell is completely gone. If your home has been directly affected by a fire, the restoration process is often very intricate, which is why we offer the full spectrum of services: board-up, smoke and odor clean-up, and water damage repair.

Burst Pipes

A burst pipe in your home requires immediate emergency plumbing service. It can cause extensive water damage to your home or place of business and must be taken care of as soon as possible. A Bill Howe technician can guide you through the process of shutting off your water to reduce damage to your home until the technician arrives.
