Mold Remediation Services
Mold is not only unsightly and hard to get rid of, but it’s also unhealthy and often a sign of an underlying problem that needs attention. The primary danger with mold is that the nearly invisible spores get into the air and our lungs. When we’re exposed to mold spores, undesirable effects on health can include aggravated allergies, asthma, and respiratory issues. Depending on the severity of your mold issue, you may need professional mold remediation to make your home safe again.
Trust the licensed and certified mold remediation services experts at Bill Howe to finding, eliminating, and preventing the growth of dangerous mold in the home. Call us for a free visual mold removal inspection now.
How Did Mold Get Into My Home?
Mold is a fungus that grows outdoors and indoors and thrives in warm, dark, and moist environments. Unfortunately, there are many areas in a home that are susceptible to mold, such as underneath sinks or behind walls — areas that may require black mold removal. Faulty plumbing or inadequate ventilation can create a moist environment, but so can respiration, cooking, and even drying laundry on a rack.
A home with several residents will naturally have more moisture in the air due to simply breathing. Add in humidifiers and long, hot showers, and all that excess moisture can create the ideal environment for mold to grow. Any part of your home exposed to excess moisture could require professional mold removal and this is often the case in areas that aren’t visible.
When your home is damaged from a flood or other disaster, it’s easy to see how far the water has penetrated. But it’s difficult to know if and how much damage has occurred when a slow leak causes a mold problem in your roof or beneath a bathroom sink. Leaky plumbing can cause moisture to become trapped beneath flooring, behind walls, and other warm, dark spaces.
Moisture can also seep into a basement through your home’s concrete foundation or cinder block walls. Improper drainage, exterior damage, and other problems can allow moisture to become trapped in finished walls and other areas. If left uncorrected, moisture-causing issues can damage your home’s structure and create a health hazard that requires mold remediators.
Do I Need a Mold Removal Service?
Surface mold is often found in bathrooms, and as long as the mold hasn’t penetrated grout, caulking, or other areas, most homeowners can perform mold cleanup. But as discussed above, it’s not always easy to determine what caused the mold and to what degree it has spread.
Sometimes the only indication of mold are water stains or a musty odor. If you notice water stains, there could be mold growing behind that stain, and even structural damage. When there is a smell in your home but you don’t see signs of water damage, follow your nose to see if you need mold removal help.
You can often pinpoint where mold is growing by doing some odor investigation. Once you’ve located the room where the odor comes from, check any plumbing for leaks and use a flashlight to check in dark, out-of-the-way places. If you suspect you have mold, your home may need mold remediation.
If you do have a mold issue, our professionals will locate the mold and contain the contaminated area to prevent airborne mold spores from spreading into the air. We then use the latest mold remediation equipment and methods like negative air machines and air scrubbers to remove mold from your home.

We have used Bill Howe Plumbing for many years anytime we have an emergency plumbing issue, because we trust this company to respond quickly in sending out reliable employees and will give us an accurate diagnosis. Bill Howe Plumbing is the only company we call for help.
Our upstairs bathroom toilet flooded, causing water to flood down onto our kitchen ceiling, causing water damage in both rooms. Within an hour of calling Bill Howe, Carlos Paredes, EMS Lead Technician arrived to assess the flood damage. He quickly found the source of the flood and presented us with a clear water damage remediation plan. We had met Carlos earlier this year when our water heater flooded our laundry room and he was sent out to evaluate the water damage. We knew we were in good hands again when Carlos arrived for this emergency, because we knew him to be trustworthy, he communicated each step of the process clearly in a way for us to know exactly how the damage was going to be fixed and made us feel we were right in calling Bill Howe.

Best plumbing service I have used. We had a shower faucet leak that we didn’t know about until water came pouring through the ceiling into the living room. Bill Howe’s plumber, Tris, was there immediately, carefully located the leak and was able to stop further damage. Within an hour, the flood remediators came and had their fans set up to prevent mold. As the moisture was extensive, they were meticulous in locating anywhere that had been damaged. Joseph was particularly great in making certain every bit of moisture went away. Each person who came was polite, neat, respectful and helpful. When we were finally able to dry out the house, Bill Howe also had a remodeling crew that came in and returned my house to almost as good as new. Over the three weeks, every service person appeared when they said they would and did what they said they would, in spades. It is so nice to be able to depend on a good company, particularly when there is an unexpected disaster. Will use them for all of my plumbing needs in the future!

During the Labor Day holiday weekend, we had a kitchen flood that not only damaged the kitchen, but also leaked through two walls, and was even pouring to the outside of the home. This is our rental home, so by the time our tenants called us when they discovered the leak, we responded to see how big the leak was and if we could stop it, and slow down the damage.
We called a couple of plumbing services first because we had a home warranty company, but it was clear when the first plumber arrived that he was not going to be able to handle this call. Bill Howe was recommended to us, and we were told, these guys are expensive, but they are good! This was truly an underestimation, I was skeptical, but when we saw our investment home getting soggy, we made the call. I’ve already written a review about the Plumber that we got with Bill Howe, He was excellent! See my prior review about Mike from Bill Howe, but once the water is stopped, and the pipes are closed off, what do you do about all the soggy carpet, floors, walls, and cabinets… Well in the humidity of Summer in San Diego, just opening the windows and letting the sun dry it up is not a practical option, it’s not going to work. Once the plumber was done, a remediation team came, and essentially there job is to find all the areas that are wet, and cut out what can not be dried out, like drywall, that particle board inside kitchen cabinets…that’s right, they may look fancy on the outside, but chances are that the box portions are just pressed wood that will absorb water like a sponge, and then forever be deformed.
Francisco, and Juan were our remediation and demo team, and these guys were extremely professional, guiding us through the trenches that were once our walls. There was a lot of work to be done over several days, both the guys were always on time, kept the area isolated and safe for our tenants, and kept us informed of all the work they needed to perform. We are very happy that these guys were our remediation team. Thanks to Francisco and Juan, you guys really do great work, and I appreciate it!!
