Bill Howe Plumbing Jumps in to Help the Boys & Girls Club’s “Little Jumps, Big Changes”
Well-known San Diego Plumbing Company is No Stranger to Helping San Diego’s Youth Achieve Success
March 13, 2013 San Diego, Calif. – During the month of February, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego hosted a fundraiser promoting active and healthy lifestyles. The “Little Jumps, Big Changes” campaign highlighted the importance of active lifestyles for our youth while raising much needed funds for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego’s mission. Thirteen Branches across San Diego County participated, and the event culminated in a simultaneous jump rope at each of the locations. Bill Howe Plumbing has had the opportunity to support the Boys & Girls Club, Ron Roberts Branch in Linda Vista in the past and was excited to join Supervisor, Joe Sorenson, again for this special event.
Promoting heart health and active lifestyles has been paramount to the Bill Howe message, and has been at the forefront for the last three years as the San Diego plumbing company has been teaming up with the American Heart Association (AHA) with the “Howe” Healthy is Your Heart Drawing Contest. The contest raises awareness on how to lead healthy active lives while supporting the AHA. The contest officially launched on February 1 and ends March 29. The grand prize winner will receive a $250 gift card for Toys R’ Us and an invitation for the whole family to attend the AHA Beach Ball in June.
“The Little Jumps, Big Changes event was a huge success. Bill Howe Plumbing played an integral part by providing a fun and exciting “healthy lifestyles” trivia game to our members. It was an amazing way to kick off our jump roping extravaganza,” said Joe Sorenson, Supervisor, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego, Ron Roberts Branch. “Thank you to Bill Howe Plumbing for being such a positive and influential force to our youth.” Bill Howe Plumbing has been an advocate of healthy living and active in volunteerism for many years showing how in San Diego, plumbers can make a difference in the community.
As part of the San Diego plumber’s team up with the Ron Roberts Branch of the Boys & Girls Club, each student, age 5-12, took part in the drawing contest and the Bill Howe staff participated in the event with a special presentation and even joined in with fellow “jump ropers.” Bill and Tina Howe donated $500 to Joe Sorenson’s “Mr. Joe’s Challenge,” where he gave up fast food and vowed to get active alongside the kids. Their donation helped him to reach his original goal of $1,000. Because of the generous support, donations rolled in from the kids themselves and local community members and Joe was able to exceed his original goal amount raising a total of $2,933 in the month of February for The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego.
“It was special to be a part of the Boys & Girls Club’s “Little Jumps, Big Changes,” said Tina Howe, Vice President of Bill Howe Plumbing, Inc. “Not only did it align itself with our own mission of elevating healthy lifestyles in San Diego, but it’s great to know that together with organizations like the boys & Girls Club and educators like Joe Sorenson, we can make a positive impact on our future leaders.”
