Well known San Diego AC repair and plumbing service company receives recognition for healthy initiatives

May 13, 2014 San Diego, Calif. – The Bill Howe Family of Companies has been committed to employee happiness and wellbeing since opening their doors in 1980 offering plumbing services in San Diego.  AC repair, installation and restoration & flood remediation divisions expanded the company while increasing the number of employees to care for in 2007 and 2009. Part of their commitment to employees has been to offer advanced training, education, and full wellness programs to ensure a well-balanced work and personal life.

In 2012, seeing a growing need to help their employees maintain better health and understand how to begin actively taking control of their own well being, the San Diego plumbing company partnered with professional wellness coaches, BARR Corporate Health. Prior to 2012, Bill and Tina Howe, owners of the family of companies had incorporated several small initiatives throughout the company in an effort to assist in increasing health awareness.

“What we realized in all of our many attempts at positive healthy endeavors was the amount of work and time needed to care for and nurture these programs,” said Tina Howe, Vice President of Bill Howe Family of Companies. “We saw small success, but were ultimately stalled by our lack of experience in running full time programs.”

The San Diego Business Journal hosts San Diego’s Healthiest Companies Awards to recognize businesses committed to increasing health awareness and wellness initiatives for the community, employees and their families. On May 7, the Bill Howe Family of Companies’ wellness committee attended the ceremony where they were ranked 2nd in the medium sized business category. This is the second time taking a high ranking for the San Diego plumbing company, having been ranked first in 2013 in the same category.

This year, the business sizes and competition increased and the San Diego plumbing company was honored to once again be recognized.“We have stepped up our efforts this year and are continuing to promote our health incentives, participation and endeavors that we offer,” said Tina Howe.  “We are very pleased to be able to help build not only a healthy company, but a healthy industry as well.”
