Bill Howe Plumbing Creates New Video to Support San Diego Food Bank and the Bill Howe Volunteer Efforts
Well-known San Diego plumber continues to pay it forward with the latest video highlighting the San Diego Food Bank
April 27, 2017 San Diego, Calif. – Bill Howe started his sewer and drain company in 1980 focusing heavily on the property management industry in the coastal communities. After Tina Howe joined the team, the Bill Howe brand was born and they began cultivating their mission to promote healthy and happy employees, honest services at affordable rates, and giving back to the San Diego community in which they worked, lived and were raising their daughters. After 37 years, the company has grown into a multi-division award winning company with 170 employees.
The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank is the largest hunger-relief organization in San Diego County. Last year, the Food Bank distributed 22 million pounds of food, and the Food Bank serves, on average, 370,000 people per month in San Diego County. Each year, the Food Bank welcomes over 28,000 volunteers to help sort and distribute donated and purchased food products to help their mission of supporting residential shelters, youth programs, senior citizens, low-income families, and military families throughout the county.
Bill Howe Plumbing has been volunteering with the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank since 2010. On the third Wednesday of every month, a group of 30-50 employees, together with their friends and family, spend two hours at the distribution center sorting, bagging fruit and vegetables, and making senior boxes. Inspired by the mission set forth by the San Diego plumber when he began the company in 1980, the entire company gets involved and each month a new leader steps up to rally the employees and get involved.
“We began volunteering at the food bank because it gave us the opportunity to offer community service to our employees and their families,” said Bill Howe, President of Bill Howe Family of Companies. “We are proud to be a part of helping the food bank support San Diego families in need.”
To further support the San Diego Food Bank, the team at Bill Howe wanted to share with San Diego how fun volunteering can be, and a great team-building opportunity for any company. Anyone can get involved. The video highlights the volunteer team in action and interviews Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank CEO, James Floros, as well as members of the dedicated Bill Howe Volunteer team. “Getting involved with the Food Bank has been such an amazing opportunity for us,” said Tina Howe, Vice President Bill Howe Family of Companies’. “Our team has a great time while giving back to the community, and each month we have so many caring individuals showing up to do some good.”
