Tina Howe of Bill Howe Plumbing Named Finalist of San Diego Business Journal’s CFO Award

March 23, 2012, San Diego, Calif. – On Thursday, March 15, 2012, the San Diego Business Journal honored Tina Howe of Bill Howe Plumbing, Heating & Air, Restoration & Flood Services, Inc. as a finalist of the 2012 Chief Financial Officers of the Year Award. The 6th annual event recognized San Diego’s CFOs for the roles they play in the success of their businesses and their positive impact on the company.

Tina Howe has been with Bill Howe Plumbing, Inc. since 1984 and has contributed significantly to the company’s growth. Especially during hard economic times, Tina’s role has become an instrumental part of the company as she implemented financial best practices and monitored future growth.  With Tina’s direction, the company focused on reallocating budget, cutting back on costs without compromising quality, investing in employees’ health and happiness, and giving back to the San Diego community.

“It was just as important during the last five years as it was when we first started this Tina Howe of San Diego Plumbing Company, Bill Howe Plumbing accepting CFO of the Year Finalist Awardbusiness to make sure that all of our profits went right back into this company,” said Tina Howe. “During these hard times it was important to my husband, Bill Howe, and I that we tighten our belts within some areas of the company, without compromising the quality of work and products for our customers and quality of life for our employees.”

The criteria for the award nomination was based on several key points including the CFO’s commitment to create and maintain a positive work environment and employee satisfaction, how the CFO has contributed to the company’s financial success, the CFO’s innovated contribution to the company, and the community involvement and philanthropic contributions of the CFO.

Tina Howe is also the recipient of the 2010 Honoree Award for the San Diego Business Journal’s Women Who Mean Business Award. Additionally, Tina and Bill Howe were honored with the San Diego Business Journal’s 2010 Family-Owned and Closely Held Business Awards, the 2011 National Contractor of the Year Award, and the 2011 BBB Torch Award Finalist Award, among many others. We had other companies come out for estimates on what was considered a major job with jackhammers and replacing cast iron pipes under the house… having been stung before, we wanted another estimate just to make sure we were making an informed decision. The prior estimates went up to $21,000!
Bill Howe sent us an amazing veteran plumber, Dashawn and his co- worker Anthony. Dashawn did a thorough check of the problem, explained what he thought was needed … he did a final check and we were able to see for ourselves what was the problem. He recommended a complete cleaning to de-scale the pipes, and not the major work we dreaded. Thanks to his solid analysis and patience in making sure we saw what he saw, the issue was resolved completely, and saved us thousands of unnecessary work. None of the other estimates included the cleaning; only the major repairs. Thanks to Dashawn’s knowledge, professionalism and honesty, we’re Bill Howe customers.

This was our second excellent experience with Bill Howe. We had a blocked kitchen sink drain 8/5. I was able to get a same day appointment which is AMAZING. Person on phone was very courteous and set me up right away. Tony arrived at the house (called me 30 minutes out so I was able to be ready). He diagnosed the issue (blocked drain, not the garbage compactor) and was able to snake it and ran the water for 10 minutes to be sure the drains were clear. He cleaned up everything and you would not have known he was even there. Thank-you Tony and Bill Howe, you always know how.
