San Diego Plumbers Donate Games to Local Organization’s “Game Drive”

Bill Howe Plumbing, Inc. employees jump on board to help Team Parker 4 Life’s Game Changer helping to bring games to children as they receive treatment in children’s hospitals across the nation

July 31, 2014 San Diego, Calif. – Well-known San Diego plumbing company, Bill Howe Plumbing, Inc. has been involved in community outreach since the very beginning. The San Diego plumber’s been a long time supporter of the American Heart Association, the San Diego Burn Institute, dedicated to pro bono plumbing work, as well as supporting local community efforts at every opportunity.

Team Parker 4 Life is an organization committed to “be a voice for the children and join in the fight against pediatric cancer.” The inspiration behind Team Parker is Parker Shaw, who was diagnosed with stage 4 Nueroblastoma in April  2013 at age 6. The Shaw family has been traveling between New York and San Diego for treatments, surgeries and medications since diagnosis, and he was declared NED (No Evidence of Disease) after 9 long months, though he still has a long road ahead of him to prevent relapse and continue treatments. The Shaw family, and Parker, have become champions inspiring their own small community, as well as thousands of people across America to “embark on a crusade” helping children with cancer and their families through education and awareness.

Team Parker 4 Life has organized several events including a month long “Game Drive,” in June–Team Parker’s Game Changer–which rallied individuals and local businesses (as well as business in other states) to donate new games, puzzles, gift cards and video games to be delivered to children’s hospitals across the nation. The Bill Howe Family of Companies enrolled their own 136 employees and joined the cause as an official drop off location and donation center. In the end, they donated over $500 worth of new games and puzzles, Toys R Us gift cards and cash.

“Community involvement is very important,” said Tina Howe, Vice President of Bill Howe Plumbing, Bill Howe. “When we announced at our company meeting what we were participating in, our own group of local San Diego plumbers responded with cash donations and boxes of new games. We couldn’t be happier to do our part in helping raise awareness for pediatric cancer and are inspired by the Shaw’s strength and courage.”
