San Diego Plumber, Bill Howe, Celebrates the 4th Annual World Plumbing Day
Local San Diego plumbing company helps raise awareness of the role of plumbing in community health and safety
March 12, 2014 San Diego, Calif. – The Bill Howe Family of Companies loves to give back to San Diego. Plumbing, while it may not appear in every day conversation, is a much needed and underappreciated service. It is also something that many people do not have access to, and that is why the San Diego plumber celebrates March 11, otherwise known as World Plumbing Day, illuminating the importance of access to proper plumbing throughout the nation.
World Plumbing Council designated March 11, “World Plumbing Day” after natural disasters in New Orleans and Japan. The event is another way to bring to light the important role plumbing plays in health and safety in our communities. World Plumbing Day happens “every year…everywhere…” and is promoted to educate us about something that is greatly lacking in many parts of the world, access to clean drinking water. It was scarce in the Katrina and the Tsunami of 2010; however, there are countries that live under such circumstances daily. According to the World Health Organization, 1.1 billion people do not have access to safe water supplies, over 2 billion people do not have improved sanitation and millions die each year from water-related diseases.
“We want to help spread the word and raise awareness of plumbing’s role in our health,” said San Diego plumber and President of the Bill Howe Family of Companies, Bill Howe. “Each time we provide services to our local community of San Diego, we are also helping to strengthen the health of our community. On Tuesday, March 11, 2014, the Bill Howe Family of Companies handed out special “World Plumbing Day” gifts to each customer they visited. The gifts included a travel salad cup that comes with a dressing portion cup and fork, a few healthy snacks and a Bill Howe tote bag. “We wanted to give them something useful and fun,” said Tina Howe, Vice President of the Bill Howe Family of Companies. “The salad cups are a great way to take a healthy lunch with you on the go, and perfectly align with our promotion of healthy active lifestyles.”
