Local San Diego Plumber Receives 2015 mikeroweWORKS Foundation Work Ethic Scholarship Award

Local San Diego plumbing company proud to recognize their employees for student excellence

September 22, 2015, San Diego, Calif. – The Bill Howe Family of Companies is one of the largest family-owned and operated San Diego plumbing, heating & air, and restoration & flood companies. Since beginning operations in 1980, they have focused on ensuring the highest standards in their industry. They align themselves with associations to help strengthen the trade in San Diego such as the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling-Contractors Association (PHCC-SD) and PHCC Academy (Plumbing & Heating & Air) and offer education opportunities to all of their field employees. Bill Howe currently has 27 of its employees attending the PHCC Academy in both the four year plumbing program and two-year HVAC certificate program.

The mikeroweWORKS Foundation promotes hard work and supports the skilled trades across the nation and in many ways. Offering scholarships through the foundation, they are able to help “close the country’s gap and those that represent the significant bulk of unfilled jobs.” They have awarded over 2.5 million in scholarships to schools across the country including Midwest Technical Institute, The Refrigeration School, and now the PHCC Academy in San Diego.

Miguel Gomez is a San Diego plumber at the Bill Howe Family of Companies. He is also an exemplary student at the local PHCC Academy, going into his third year of the four-year program. He began with Bill Howe as a laborer and apprentice and quickly proved through hard work and dedication that he was ready for his own truck. Starting with simple drain jobs while attending the first two years in the academy, he worked diligently to improve his skill set and has since taken on more challenging jobs.
