Local San Diego Girl Scout Visits Bill Howe Family of Companies in March
San Diego plumbers received a special guest at the March company meeting and assisted her in reaching her cookie goal and send cookies to troops overseas
March 15, 2014 San Diego, Calif. – The Bill Howe Family of Companies is one of the largest low cost, family-owned and operated service companies in San Diego. Plumbers, HVAC technicians and water mitigation specialists all work seamlessly through the three divisions offering a one stop shop option for San Diego residents. Part of the success of the company has been their involvement in community events, services and youth outreach. Bill and Tina Howe have always supported a variety of organizations, and during their March company meeting, they added a local Girl Scout to the long list of beneficiaries of the Family of Companies.
The Girls Scouts were organized in 1912 and founded on the tenants to build girls of “courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.” Although Girl Scouting offers a wide variety of activities and opportunities for girls, Girls Scout Cookies have become the American Icon of the organization. In San Diego, Girls Scout Cookie Season begins February 1 and lasts through March 16 teaching girls five essential skills: goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics.
Taylor Cole from Girl Scout Troup 8928 contacted the San Diego plumbing company with a perfect cookie pitch. “She was detailed and convincing, providing me with three very specific ways in which our company could help,” said Julie Riddle, Marketing Director for Bill Howe Plumbing. “I was so impressed by her professionalism at such a young age, I wanted to help her reach her goal and Tina was on board from the very beginning.”
Taylor arrived early on March 12, 2014 to meet with Bill and Tina Howe and set up. She and her mom jumped right in mingling with the employees and sharing breakfast before the start of the meeting. When she was introduced, she took the stage with confidence and explained who she was and how our company could help. Taylor was able exceed her goal by several hundreds of dollars in Girl Scout Cookie sales in San Diego. Plumbers rushed to her after the meeting adjourned helping to support Operation Thin Mint and even buying her last remaining boxes.
“She will make one great businesswoman,” said Tina Howe Vice President of the Bill Howe Family of Companies. “She was a natural, and I know it is not very easy to stand up and address a room full of strangers, especially when the majority of them are men. She did wonderful, and we were so thrilled to have her join us and be a part of our meeting.”
