Bill Howe’s Integrity Captured in Winning Scholarship Essay at 2015 BBB Torch Award Ceremony!
Every year, the Better Business Bureau holds an award ceremony for marketplace ethics. It is open to companies in San Diego with a range of sizes including 1-10 employees, 11-49, and 100-249. The judges choose winners and finalists in each category based on criteria in management practices, marketing and communication, industry reputation, and community involvement to name a few. The Bill Howe Family of companies has submitted for the award since 2010, and has been recognized as a finalist multiple years in a row.
The BBB Torch Award is sponsored by Sycuan Casino and together they present five scholarships to San Diego students through an essay contest centered on integrity and ethics in business. The grand prize scholarship winner at the 2015 BBB Torch Award Ceremony wrote her essay about something near and dear to Bill Howe, plumbing ethics in San Diego.
The winning essayist wrote about her mother’s personal experience at finding a plumber to install a new water heater after the old one flooded unexpectedly. Her mother had not had to deal with water heater replacement before, and was faced with the challenge of finding a company that would do the job right, with professionalism, and for a fair and honest price.
