Bill Howe Plumbing Promotes San Diego Journeyman Plumber to Team Leader

Award winning San Diego plumbing continues to promote outstanding employees from within

 January 27, 2016 San Diego, Calif. – Bill Howe started his San Diego plumbing company as AM/PM Sewer & Drains in 1980. He built what is today, the Bill Howe Family of Companies on a mission to be the best employer in San Diego, provide honest services at a fair price, and give back to the community. When he began operations, Bill was the sole plumber and 37 years later, the company employs over 175 people across three divisions.

In 2014, Bill Howe Plumbing created the Team Leader Position to enhance and oversee the field team. Five positions were created and were opened up to all employees who had been with the company for a year or more. Each employee went through a rigorous interview and application process and the new team leaders were chosen by the executive management team. The program has been successful in welcoming new plumbers and drain techs into the company, improving morale in the field, enhanced communications, customer service, and increased productivity.

In July, the current team leader overseeing the plumbing apprentices had his first child and stepped down from the position opening up the position again for the first time since inception.  Five San Diego plumbers applied for the immediate opening and went through the application and interview process to become the Apprentice Team Leader.

Bill Howe was pleased to ultimately choose Louie Sepulveda, Journeyman San Diego Plumber, who has been with the company since 2006. Louie is active on the Bill Howe Volunteer team, participates in wellness events, and is an asset to the new position. “Louie has expressed interest in moving up in his career at Bill Howe,” said Amber Baynard, Human Resource Manager. “He is an exemplary employee, has a great relationship with his peers, and can be an incredible teacher and resource to our apprentices in the field.”

The Apprentice Team Leader works directly with the Bill Howe apprentice to achieve goals of promotion to technician and success once in their own vehicle. Louise will assist in the completion of the Bill Howe training program, as well as supervising their progress through the four-year San Diego Journeyman Plumbing program through the PHCC.
