Bill Howe Plumbing, Inc. Announces Winners of the “Howe” Healthy is Your Hearty Drawing Contest
San Diego Plumbing Company Teams Up With American Heart Association to Encourage Healthy Hearts One Drawing at a Time
June 28, 2012, San Diego, Calif. – Bill Howe Plumbing, Heating & Air, Restoration & Flood Services and the American Heart Association have announced the winners of the “Howe” Healthy is Your Heart Drawing Contest. In its second year, the San Diego plumbing company hosted the contest which helps create awareness of the growing issue of child obesity in San Diego County and encourages local families to live active and healthy lifestyles, starting at home. The eight-week contest garnered just less than 400 drawings from children all over San Diego County, ages 5-12. Contestants were asked to draw their idea of a healthy heart and describe what they to do keep healthy.
Twelve-year-old Raphael Sanvictores of Chula Vista was the recipient of the grand prize: $300 to Toys “R” Us® and tickets for Raphael and his parents to attend the American Heart Association’s Heart Beach Ball held on June 9, 2012 at the Hotel Del Coronado. Raphael’s entry included drawings of fruits and vegetables, music notes and Superman. He described how he keeps his heart healthy as “listening to music, staying active and eating the right foods.”
Runners-up winners, 11-year-old Jocelyn Martinez of National City, 9-year-old Matthew Brian S. Bautista of San Diego, 7-year-old Wendy Liu of Poway each received $100 gift cards to Toys “R” Us®. All participants received the “Heart Health at Home” guide, a resource provided by the American Heart Association filled with active and healthy tips for parents. Additionally, each contestant also received a “Luv Pup” pillow pet.
