Bill Howe Family of Companies Mandates Special Training for All Supervisors
Local San Diego plumbing company requires all supervisors to complete mandatory harassment and discrimination prevention training
August 11, 2015 San Diego, Calif. – Bill Howe Family of Companies has been one of the leading service companies offering highly trained technicians in San Diego plumbing, heating, cooling and restoration services. For 35 years, they have nurtured growth in the company while instilling only the highest standards for employee and customer relations. Every year, the company offers several education and training seminars for all employees in San Diego including plumbers, HVAC technicians and restoration specialists, as well as management training and specialized seminars to maintain the highest ethics in the community.
Harassment and discrimination prevention training for supervisors was held over two days the first week in August for all Bill Howe supervisors, managers and team leaders. The training course is a legal requirement under the California Fair Employment Act and must be taken every two calendar years. All supervisors who: direct the work of other employees, hires, fires or disciplines other employees, and/or makes recommendations for the aforementioned are required to attend these trainings. Additionally, all new supervisors must receive the training within 6 months of assuming new supervisory roles. The Harassment training was administered at the Bill Howe family of Companies office in San Diego. It was an interactive participation based program.
Since the company recently appointed 5 new San Diego plumbers as team leaders, they chose to move forward with the harassment training for everyone at the same time, renewing earlier supervisor’s training ahead of schedule and giving the new team leaders the tools to be great leaders in the company.
“It is extremely important to us to have all of our supervisors and managers attend this training seminar,” said Amber Baynard, Human Resources Manager. “This course covers so much, and empowers our leaders in the company to protect our employees, as well as our customers and community.” Harassment training covers not only sexual harassment, but protects persons from discrimination based on race, national origin, marital status, age, religion, breastfeeding mothers, disability, sexual orientation, citizenship status, ancestry and more. It is especially important with a company providing a service in the community, since employees meet and deal with many different people with differing beliefs and lifestyles.
“It is imperative that we are maintaining the highest ethical standards in how we interact with our employees and our customers and community members,” said Tina Howe, Vice President of Bill Howe family of Companies. “We are providing services in people’s homes and we want them to feel comfortable and protected by our staff, they need to know that we respect and value them and will act with professionalism and adherence to the law.”
