Six P.M. Labor Day Weekend.
The Best time to have your tenants call you say,” Water is leaking from my kitchen and living room walls, I need help!”
We called two 24 Hr Emergency service plumbing companies, one did not answer the phone and second asked If we could wait until Monday, Then we called Bill Howe, and their dispatcher said it would be 30 min until they could have a plumber on site… 20 Min later Michael Plata arrives, and right away we show him where we have water leaking in the kitchen, dinning room wall, and even water running outside the home…it’s night time, and pretty chaotic with our tenants, and their kids, all in gear for the holiday weekend.
While everyone over 30 is trying to grab Mike’s attention to show him what they think is the problem is, Mike very calmly starts working on finding the source of the leak, and within 20 minutes he localizes the water leak area within the walls, and cuts off the flow of water, and tells us this is just to temporarily stop the water damage from increasing, and since he see this is within the walls, and spilling out to the dining room, he rechecks to be sure that the flow of water has stopped.
He suggests that we continue with holiday celebrations tonight, and that he would be back first thing in the morning to continue with repairs.
He said this would also save us money since we would not have him working the emergency rates, and that the tenants would be able to get some sleep before he had to begin tearing into drywall to locate and repair the actual pipe damage.
Michael came back, first thing in morning and began to track down the pipe damage and also made arrangement to a water mitigation team begin the clean up process, as he could see this was a bigger job than the owners and tenants had even known.
We are really impressed by Michaels skills in containing and stopping the leak, asd well and his professionalism in creating a plan to make repairs, organize addition staff to work on the water damages, and keeping the homeowners updated on the progress, while even showing concern by keeping the costs as manageable as possible. Good plumbers are expensive, but cheap ones are much more expensive when they miss diagnose or simply make the wrong type of repairs. Michael really went the extra mile with us, even checking on areas that were not broken, but were showing wear, and he addressed them so they would not break down in the near future, on top of that he gave us 12 month warrantee on his work, and was responsive to follow-up even after he was done, and on to the next project.
Mike showed us he was skilled, and that he cared, and that’s refreshing! Bill Howe has a great asset in Mike, and we’ll be calling Bill Howl and recommending them for all our plumbing needs!
We were truly impressed.
