DIY remedies can be great. They save time and money. But, what really works?
The most common solution found online when searching for that clogged kitchen drain remedy is vinegar and baking soda. This method suggests starting with boiling water down the drain. Then adding baking soda allowing it to remain in the drain for a few minutes. Follow with vinegar and more boiling water. After several more minutes, add more boiling water.
This probably works for some minor clogs, but it is not due to the cleaning power of baking soda and vinegar. Together, they create a fizzy reaction, but they do not have the power to degrease or move clogs down the line. The three rounds of boiling water are probably the most effective part of the vinegar solution.

Combine a small amount of the degreasing detergent with running hot water for several minutes to penetrate the grease buildup in your kitchen drain.
