October 11, 2016 San Diego, Calif. – Bill Howe Plumbing in San Diego has grown into one for the largest family-owned and operated service and repair companies in the community. For over 35 years, they have focused on their commitment to training their field team and develop the highest quality for their customers.
The Plumbing-Heating-Cooling-Contractors Association is dedicated to the advancement and education of the plumbing HVACR industry, for the health, safety, and comfort of society and the protection of the environment. Bill Howe Plumbing in San Diego has been active with the local chapter of the PHCC since 1985, and has been sending their team to the Journeyman Academy program since its inception in 2008. They have graduated over 20 students and currently have 27 students enrolled.
Each year, the PHCC Education Foundation presents scholarships to students across the nation. San Diego always receives a large portion of the education scholarships, and in 2016, Bill Howe students received four. Each contractor member can submit up to four scholarships, and each of the Bill Howe students who applied received between $1,000 and $1,500 to help cover costs for the year. Recipients were new year one student, Victor Gonzales, Year two student, Miguel Ascencio, year three student, Giovanny Martinez, and Year four student, Lance Gajitos.
What scholarships do not pay for; Bill Howe Plumbing pays 100 percent. The company covers the cost for employees to attend the academy, including books, materials, enrollment and lab fees, and annual tuition. The opportunity is open to all San Diego plumbers, and also to heating & air conditioning technicians. The PHCC HVAC certification program opened in 2013 and is a two-year program. Additionally, Bill Howe has two employees who are also PHCC instructors, Dana Parks and Andrew Chapman.
“Bill and I are proud to be a part of the local PHCC and invest in our students and industry,” Tina Howe, president of the PHCC-SD. “We feel that training and education are important to San Diego, and we want to empower our team to be the best, and deliver the highest quality of service to our customers. And we are so honored that our team applies for, and receives, scholarships each year. They are dedicated to their craft and so deserving of support from the National PHCC Education foundation”
