Bill Howe Family of Companies Wins Honoree Award at San Diego Business Journal’s Family-Owned & Closely Held Business Awards

December 8, 2010, San Diego, Calif. – Last night the Howe family accepted the Honoree Award, at the award ceremony for the San Diego Business Journal’s 10th Annual Family-Owned & Closely Held Business Awards. The award recognizes and honors businesses with familial ties, as well as those having three or fewer individuals who own 50 percent or more of the company.

Bill Howe Plumbing was started in 1980 by Bill Howe and his father, Bill Howe, Sr. Howe originally ran the company out of his apartment in Pacific Beach, which is where he met his wife, Tina. Bill Howe Plumbing has grown to be recognized as one of the largest plumbing companies in San Diego. In 2007, Bill and Tina Howe expanded the business and began offering heating and air conditioning services. In 2009, they launched Bill Howe Restoration and Flood Services officially becoming the Bill Howe Family of Companies.

Two of Bill and Tina’s daughters have leadership roles within the company. Jaime is the company’s lead dispatcher, and Haley is a lead coordinator on the restoration and flood services team. Earlier this year, Jaime married Brendan Stolis, one of Bill Howe Plumbing’s most talented and well respected technicians. In addition, Amber Baynard, Bill and Tina’s niece, is the company’s operations director. The Howe’s strive to maintain a family-like atmosphere within the company of 100 employees and are active in the San Diego community, contributing to a variety of organizations and offering pro-bono work.

The San Diego Business Journal partnered with the University of San Diego’s Family Business Forum and San Diego State University’s Entrepreneurial Management Center to help honor all of the finalists and honorees.
