Better Business Bureau Torch Awards for Marketplace Ethics Names the Bill Howe Family of Companies Finalist Third Year in a Row

Esteemed San Diego plumber, Bill Howe, and his wife Tina Howe, proud to represent ethical marketplace practices in local community

December 5, 2013 San Diego, Calif. – For the third consecutive year, the Bill Howe Family of Companies has been named a finalist of the Better Business Bureau’s Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics. The award winners were announced during an award ceremony held on December 3, 2013 at the Town & Country Resort in Mission Valley in San Diego. Plumber and businessman Bill Howe and his wife, Tina Howe, accepted the award for 2nd place finalist in the “100-249 employees” category.

WebIn its 16th year, the BBB Torch Awards honor companies that make as a priority in daily operations, the commitment to ethical practices, integrity and support of the San Diego marketplace.  To be considered for the award, companies must compile a nomination that outlines and proves their commitment to ethics in categories including management practices, community and stakeholder relations, communications and marketing practices, and industry reputation. A panel of judges reviews the submissions and grades each category on a scale of 1-10. While many of the businesses that are nominated for the award are in the San Diego heating and air conditioning or plumbing business, the award is open to businesses in any industry.

This years’ keynote speaker, George K. H. Schell, Chief Marketing Counsel for the North American Coca-Cola Company, spoke about how to achieve trust in the marketplace. He said “communication plus connection in context equals trust,” and that is something that every company can grow a foundation upon. Communication is of the utmost importance in business dealings and something the local San Diego plumber holds as paramount to their continued success.

The Bill Howe Family of Companies started with Bill Howe Plumbing, Inc. in 1980 and now offers services in San Diego heating and air conditioning, as well as restoration and flood services. Bill Howe sent us an amazing veteran plumber, Dashawn and his co- worker Anthony. Dashawn did a thorough check of the problem, explained what he thought was needed … he did a final check and we were able to see for ourselves what was the problem. He recommended a complete cleaning to de-scale the pipes, and not the major work we dreaded. Thanks to his solid analysis and patience in making sure we saw what he saw, the issue was resolved completely, and saved us thousands of unnecessary work. None of the other estimates included the cleaning; only the major repairs. Thanks to Dashawn’s knowledge, professionalism and honesty, we’re Bill Howe customers.

This was our second excellent experience with Bill Howe. We had a blocked kitchen sink drain 8/5. I was able to get a same day appointment which is AMAZING. Person on phone was very courteous and set me up right away. Tony arrived at the house (called me 30 minutes out so I was able to be ready). He diagnosed the issue (blocked drain, not the garbage compactor) and was able to snake it and ran the water for 10 minutes to be sure the drains were clear. He cleaned up everything and you would not have known he was even there. Thank-you Tony and Bill Howe, you always know how.
