Our kitchen drain has been slow running ever since we moved in 4 years ago. It is an old ranch style house from the 50’s that had undergone many remodels over the years and is on septic. For years I have been using a small snake on a drill to improve the drainage, and also a hose mounted device to blast water down the drain. Both methods helped somewhat, but was messy as had to disassemble the under the sink trap as there is no cleanout. The sink finally slowed down too much and we decided to call Bill Howe. Not sure why we waited this long, as the results are worth it.
Justin Gould came out, assessed the situation and decided to snake from the roof vent. The first machine was a smaller more flexible snake, but did not clear the problem. Justin explained that these kitchen blockages behave like jello or jam – as soon as you go through them and pull back, they fill right in. He then switched to a different machine that used a larger diameter snake that resembled a coil spring. He went back and forth many times and finally broke through and cleaned out the clog. All this on the roof on a hot day in El Cajon.
All I can say is that the kitchen sink now drains better that it ever has since moving here. I will always call Bill Howe (and request Justin) from now on.
