June 28, 2011, San Diego, Calif. – Bill Howe Plumbing, Inc., one of San Diego’s largest family-owned plumbing, heating, air conditioning, and restoration companies, has been selected as a winner of the Heilbron Awards, sponsored by San Diego Rotary Club 33 and the San Diego Business Journal.

The first of its kind, the Heilbron Awards, named after Carl Heilbron, first president of the San Diego Rotary Club 33 in 1911, recognize small, medium, and large public and private companies that exemplify the pay it forward spirit and give of themselves and their professional expertise to advance the well-being and success of others in the community.  Bill Howe Plumbing, Inc. was awarded the first place award in the medium business category. San Diego Rotary Club 33 is one of the largest in the country and among nearly 30,000 Rotary Clubs now active globally.

While the company offers community service to various organizations, i.e. San Diego Food Bank, American Heart Association, Rebuild Together San Diego, and the Andrew Chapman Mentorship Program, the Heilbron Award was specifically awarded to Bill Howe Plumbing, Inc. for the role the company plays with the San Diego Job Corps. San Diego Job Corps is the local chapter of the national program, Job Corps, administered by the U.S. Department of Labor. The program offers young adults of San Diego a comprehensive array of career development services through a holistic career development training approach. Bill Howe Plumbing, Inc. was the first plumbing company to get involved in San Diego Job Corps over eight years ago and today is the only plumbing company that continues to work with the students to provide them with on-the-job training. Without the support of Bill Howe Plumbing, Inc., these students would not have access to experiencing the work day of a plumbing, heating or air conditioning technician and learn the ins and outs of a successful and ethical trade company.
