Four Bill Howe San Diego Plumbers Receive Educational Foundation Scholarship from National PHCC
Local San Diego plumbing company proud to recognize their employees for student excellence
August 28, 2015, San Diego, Calif. – The Bill Howe Family of Companies has grown onto one of the largest family-owned and operated San Diego plumbing, heating & air, and restoration & flood companies since first opening their doors in 1980. Bill Howe first began as 24/7 plumber and drain tech offering low cost services as a one-truck operation. As he grew the business, he focused on hiring and retaining quality employees, offering education in order to deliver the best services, and give back to the community. With his mission in place, he has successfully created a team of journeyman plumbers, highly trained specialists in heating, A/C, and restoration and provides a one-stop solution for the very best in customer home services and customer service.
The National Plumbing-Heating-Cooling-Contractors Association has local chapters across the nation, and the organizations are dedicated to the advancement and education of the plumbing and HVAC-R industry. The local chapter in San Diego seeks to enhance and strengthen the San Diego plumbing and HVAC-R community, protecting consumers and ensuring contractors performing skilled work are licensed and insured. The San Diego chapter opened the PHCC Academy and began training local San Diego plumbers to get more plumbers to earn their Journeyman status. In 2013, the Academy became federally recognized and has over 150 students attending in the 2015-16 year as well as having opened an HVAC Certificate Program.
Of the 150 students in the upcoming year at the San Diego PHCC Academy, Bill Howe students total 27. The Bill Howe Family of Companies has graduated over 25 over the past few years and is extremely proud of the education opportunity they are able to offer to their field employees, both plumbers and HVAC techs. The company also pays for 100 percent of tuition and books, which totals over two thousand per student per year. However, they encourage their employees to become active in the academy and association and apply for scholarships. Several students over the years have been awarded assistance for their outstanding dedication to their education journey, and for 2015, Bill Howe is proud of the latest recipients. Steven Winsett, Eric Montalvo, Allan Aguilar, and Mike Lacey will each be awarded the PHCC Educational Foundation Scholarship for the upcoming year and are deserving of the honor and recognition. Each of them is an exemplary employee an excellent student.
“We are very proud of all our employees who take the opportunity to attend the academy,” said Tina Howe, Vice President of the Bill Howe Plumbing, Heating & Air. “It is challenging to balance class and training after long days of hard work, but all of our students do an amazing job in class and in the field. We are very proud to recognize their achievements and scholarship award.”
