Bill Howe Family of Companies Hosts First Annual Toy Drive & Customer Appreciation Lunch
Well established local San Diego heating and air conditioning company rewards customers while helping “Toys for Tots”
December 23, 2013 San Diego, Calif. – Bill Howe Family of Companies, comprised of Bill Howe Plumbing, Inc., Bill Howe Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc., and Bill Howe Restoration & Flood Services, Inc. is one of San Diego’s largest low cost family-owned and operated service companies. Beginning operations out of a 400 square foot studio in Pacific Beach, CA in 1980 with one truck, they have grown to over 130 employees with a space and warehouse measuring at 20,000 square feet. Part of the success of the San Diego plumber, Bill Howe, was his commitment to the local community and dedication to customer service.
The US Marine Corps “Toys for Tots” was approved as an official activity of the USMC and an official mission of the Marine Corps Reserve in 1995 and spread across all 50 states in 1996. It has continually grown and in 2001, despite the Nation’s turmoil over the September 11 attacks, the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Campaign was the second best in the 54-year history. In its history, the program has distributed over 469 million toys to over 216 million less fortunate children.
In addition to the many charitable organizations the San Diego plumber contributes to annually, the company wanted to include the Toys for Tots program for the holiday season. Volunteering to become an official drop-off location was the easy part, but bringing in the number of toys they wanted to receive was the challenge. “We didn’t just want to have toys to donate,” said Tina Howe, Vice President of the Bill Howe Family of Companies. “We wanted our donation boxes to be overflowing.”
Together with the Marketing team, Tina Howe coordinated a toy drive together with a customer appreciation event to raise awareness of their initiative and fill their Toys for Tots donation boxes. The San Diego plumber hired local food truck, Mastiff Sausage Company, and bought lunch for 125 of their customers. All the customers had to do in return? Bring a new and unwrapped toy to fill the donation boxes and in exchange, they had a gourmet, locally sourced, handmade menu to choose from one of the finest food trucks in San Diego.

“Some of our customers brought in multiple toys,” said Tina Howe. “One even unloaded his entire trunk full of wonderful toys for all ages. It was a wonderful day to connect with our customers and help children experience a better Christmas. In the end, we filled both donation boxes to overflowing capacity.”
