SDG&E HVAC Rebates

There are measures that you can take with your existing unit that can help you save money on your utility bills while also conserving natural resources used to run your unit. Scheduling a tune-up for your existing unit can help reduce energy usage by improving the efficiency of your unit.

Cleaning your ducts and making sure your home has proper insulation can play a very important role in making sure that you’re not wasting energy within your home. According to SDG&E, studies indicate that 10 percent to 30 percent of heated or cooled air is lost, along with money spent to heat or cool that air, through leaky ducts. Properly sized, installed, and sealed ductwork will make your heating and cooling systems significantly more efficient.

If you’re in the market to purchase a new unit or upgrade an existing unit to an energy efficient one, you could be eligible for a rebate from SDG&E.

Rebates for Central Natural Gas Furnaces:

The energy efficiency of a natural gas central furnace is measured by the Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE) rating.

Depending on where you live and the overall size of a properly sized and installed central natural gas furnace of 92 percent AFUE (or greater), an energy efficient natural gas furnace will use about 20 percent less energy than a standard model (80 AFUE).

REBATE – $200 per ENERGY STAR® qualified Central Natural Gas Furnace*

* An AFUE rating of 92 percent or greater is needed to qualify. Not all ENERGY STAR labeled units qualify for an SDG&E rebate.

SDG&E also offers rebates for businesses’ energy efficient HVAC systems purchased and installed in 2009 and 2010. For more information call our HVAC sales team at 1-888-BILL-HOWE (1-888-245-5469) or visit http://www.sdge.com/business/rebatesincentives/ for more information.
