The Bill Howe Family of Companies Shares the Importance of Plumbing with Local Community by Delivering a Special Token of Appreciation to Every Customer on World Plumbing Day
March 7, 2013 San Diego, Calif. – Bill Howe Plumbing is no stranger to giving back to the community. The company has teamed up with the American Heart Association for the past three years, donated generously to The Andrew Chapman Mentorship Program supporting at-risk youth, has a designated volunteer team regularly attending beach clean-ups and volunteer hours at the San Diego Food Bank, and sponsors family members within the company. A true family-owned and operated business, Bill Howe Plumbing places great importance on keeping an educated staff ready to help protect the community they have been serving since 1980. It may not be immediately synonymous, the terms: heroes and plumbers. San Diego, however, might recognize this to be true on March 11, 2013, when “World Plumbing Day” illuminates the role plumbing plays in global health.
In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and the tsunami in Japan, the World Plumbing Council designated March 11, “World Plumbing Day.” This international event happens “every year…everywhere…” and seeks to bring to the forefront, the importance of plumbing in the world. Access to clean drinking water was scarce in the aftermath of the two devastating disasters; however, there are countries that live under such circumstances at all times. According to the World Health Organization, 1.1 billion people do not have access to safe water supplies, over 2 billion people do not have improved sanitation and millions die each year from water-related diseases.
“We work very hard to ensure our industry remains honest, ethical and well-trained,” said Bill Howe, President of the Bill Howe Family of Companies. “We align ourselves with organizations such as the Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling Contractors Association (PHCC) and we insist on continuous training and education for all of our employees. We want everyone in our industry licensed and working towards the same goal. Every San Diego plumber should place a priority on safe and ethical practices for the communities we serve.”
In the United States, there are strict laws in place to see that all citizens enjoy basic rights including safe water acts. Bill Howe Plumbing is a leader in the industry and has been a constant watchdog upholding and strengthening such laws for all plumbers. San Diego residents may not immediately recognize the health they enjoy can be in part due to safe plumbing practices. In honor of World Plumbing Day, Bill Howe Plumbing is planning a special treat for all customers who have scheduled service calls on March 11. Bill and Tina Howe are excited to spread the word on how plumbing is “Vital to Global Health” while thanking San Diego for years of support.
“We will be sending each of our trained technicians out into San Diego on Monday armed with a small token of gratitude from our family,” said Tina Howe, Vice President of the Bill Howe Family of Companies. “We will be hard at work putting together our gifts to send with our techs. Every customer that receives service will receive something special from us on Monday in honor of World Plumbing Day; our way of saying, thank you.”
